Grade
Tooltip
  • Prime grade is given to our clearest boards that contain only a small amount of colour variance and knots. Prime grade floors are a good choice when you want a minimal and uniform look.
  • Select grade has the occasional smaller knot and colour variance. Select grade floors are the ideal choice when you want a minimal look, but are looking for a bit of natural character to break up the floor.
  • Natural grade floors fall between prime and rustic; they contain plenty of character and natural variances, but the size of knots and splits will not be as prominent as they are in rustic boards.
  • Rustic offer beautiful character and variation that showcase the beauty of natural hardwoods. Splits, knots and interesting colour variations blend together to produce a finished floor full of charm and personality.
  • Super rustic grade is given to our most characterful boards, with large knots and splits being a prominent feature of the floor. They may be sanded or finished to accentuate the appearance and create a floor full of character and natural variation.

What is this for?
We recommend including wastage in all our estimates to make sure you’ve got enough flooring to cover your project comfortably. Extra wood helps if you need to cut to fit around joists or corners. About 5% is usually enough, but 10% gives you even more room for error.

Climate

The Climate collection offers multiple flooring products designed to capture the essence of light and air. The signature feature of this collection includes bleached wood flooring and limed oak engineered flooring finishes, which lighten the tone and highlight the natural texture of the oak.

The aesthetic achieved is beautiful, timeless imperfection, with visible splits and knots that give each floor a subtly rustic character without compromising refinement. This style is perfect for achieving a beach house flooring look or embracing the soft, muted tones of tranquillity flooring in a bedroom or living room, as well as brightening areas like a conservatory.

The Climate collection provides excellent Scandi flooring ideas with its white-washed wooden floors and soft, muted greige or grey tones. It is a versatile flooring choice for modern homes and any space requiring a serene and airy foundation, making it an excellent choice for Japandi flooring and minimalist designs.

Climate FAQs

How does the Climate collection support a Japandi style?

The Climate collection is an excellent choice for Japandi flooring as it blends Scandi simplicity with natural, wabi-sabi flooring aesthetics. The muted, whitewashed wooden floors and natural imperfections provide the sense of calm and organic texture central to the Japandi style.

What is japandi design?

Japandi design is a hybrid interior style that blends the rustic simplicity of Japanese aesthetics (wabi-sabi) with the cosy, minimalist functionality of Scandinavian design (Scandi). It emphasises natural materials, neutral colour palettes, clean lines, and intentional imperfection.

What is limed oak engineered flooring?

Limed oak engineered flooring is a finish where a white, translucent effect is applied to the wood's grain. The Climate collection features some of these finishes to achieve sophisticated whitewashed oak floors that enhance the grain, creating the airy, light aesthetic popular in coastal flooring and scandi flooring ideas.

What is the best flooring for a beach house?

The best flooring for a beach house must balance two key factors: style (coastal aesthetics) and functionality (resistance to sand, moisture, and humidity). If you are looking to create a beach house aesthetic in your home, then all our floors featured in the Climate Collection offer a solution; however, if you are looking to achieve the functional aspect of a beach house, then ask our helpful team for our harder-wearing finishes within the collection.

Where should I use bleached wood flooring?

Bleached wood flooring is perfect for creating a bright, spacious, and tranquil feel. It is highly recommended for spaces aiming for minimalist, Japandi, or beach house flooring styles. The light tones help reflect natural light.
