Explore Wood Flooring By Construction Type
Choosing between engineered and solid wood flooring is a vital step to ensure your floor can withstand the specific temperature and moisture conditions of your space while delivering the authentic look of real timber.
Engineered wood flooring is the modern standard for high-performance interiors. It is constructed from multiple layers of wood bonded together and finished with a solid hardwood veneer. This flooring type is ideal for any space, including kitchens, basements, and conservatories.
For many, nothing compares to the classic appeal of a solid timber floor. Each plank is cut from a single piece of premium hardwood, making it a suitable flooring option for more stable environments such as living rooms, bedrooms and areas with stable humidity.

Construction FAQs
Does engineered wood feel like real wood?
Yes. The top layer of our engineered flooring is 100% natural hardwood, so it has the exact same texture, grain, and warmth as a solid plank once installed.
What is the difference in lifespan between engineered and solid wood?
Both are extremely durable. Solid wood can technically last longer because it can be sanded down more times, but a high-quality engineered board with a thick wear layer (such as our 20mm options) can also last for many decades. It is important to acknowledge that solid flooring also has a wear layer and can be sanded down to the tongue.
