This Grade A listed, two-bedroom apartment sits within a Georgian building in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, just steps from St Giles Cathedral, the Royal Mile, City Chambers and Edinburgh Castle. Surrounded by cobbled streets and historic architecture, the apartment blends period character with contemporary living. Specified by Pamela Mackay Interiors, our Verdant Smoked Oak Parquet was installed across 75 sqm to provide a versatile and durable foundation for the space. The smoked oak parquet introduces a rich tonal palette with subtle variation, enhancing the interior without competing with the building’s architectural details. Its engineered construction ensures long-term durability for daily residential use, while the refined finish supports a modern interior scheme. The natural variation in the oak adds texture and depth, creating visual interest and a sense of warmth throughout the apartment. By combining the practicality of engineered hardwood with the visual appeal of smoked oak, the flooring enhances the space by providing a cohesive backdrop that complements the building’s Georgian features. Candleriggs Square, Glasgow

Situated in a once-overlooked corner of Glasgow’s city centre, Candleriggs Square is now a striking symbol of urban renewal, transforming a formerly derelict plot into a thriving new residential and commercial hub. Led by Drum Property Group and backed by Legal & General’s UK Build to Rent Fund, this 346-apartment development marks a bold new chapter for Merchant City. Completed in May 2024, the 17-storey, 325,000 sq. ft. site is now a vibrant mixed-use community hub bringing together new residential spaces, office hubs and local amenities. As part of the interior scheme, designers Lister and Lister turned to Atkinson & Kirby to specify a flooring solution that would bring timeless character and lasting durability to the building’s communal lounge areas and stairwells. Chosen for its durability and understated appeal, our Manoa Oak offers a refined balance of style and practicality. Its soft, chalky finish and subtle grain provide a clean, timeless appeal to the shared spaces, while the rustic grade brings character through natural knots, tonal variation, and slight imperfections. The brushed and lacquered finish offers exceptional durability, making our Manoa Oak ideally suited for high-traffic areas. Locke Apartments, Lisbon

Located near Lisbon's iconic Avenida da Liberdade, the Locke de Santa Joana aparthotel exudes both style and sophistication, transforming what was once a 17th-century convent into a modern space with 370 apartments, co-working areas, restaurants, and bar spaces. This new complex, by design studios Lázaro Rosa-Violán and Post Company, revitalises a historic building. It blends historic charm with modern comforts, creating a distinctive fusion of classical Portuguese architecture and contemporary style. By incorporating natural tones and tactile materials, including locally sourced Portuguese fabrics, ceramics, and stone finishes, each apartment and communal area has been thoughtfully designed to offer a balance of character and comfort, making it perfect for both work and relaxation. Spanning approximately 8,300 sqm, Atkinson & Kirby’s CLA3004 Carron Oak flooring was chosen for installation throughout the complex. This selection played a crucial role in realising the designer’s vision. IBIS Styles Saint Andrew Square, Edinburgh

Nestled in the lively New Town of Edinburgh, IBIS Styles is a design-forward hotel that celebrates Scotland’s storied literary heritage. Drawing inspiration from luminaries such as Robert Burns and Walter Scott, the hotel offers a deeply immersive experience, reflecting the essence of these literary legends. ICA Studio, the architects behind this transformation, have skillfully merged contemporary design with a warm, welcoming ambience. The revamped hotel now features 103 elegantly appointed guest rooms across six floors. Atkinson & Kirby was entrusted with providing a flooring solution that exudes both durability and sophistication. Our Rasselas Oak flooring, chosen for its natural oak grain and inviting warmth, enhances the hotel's design throughout the bedrooms, dining areas, and corridors. The light-toned wood gives the illusion of space, while the rustic grade reflects the charming character of the building.
