Atkinson & Kirby was established in 1903 by John Atkinson and John Kirby. Tradition is an integral part of Atkinson & Kirby and we are proud to still manufacture a large selection of our flooring accessories at our mill in Chirk, North Wales. Since our establishment we still retain the original close-knit family environment feel, with everyone working together to ensure we provide the highest quality flooring that exceeds our customers expectations.
In 2003, Atkinson & Kirby was acquired by Richard Burbidge, the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of stairparts, mouldings and decking balustrade. Richard Burbidge also have an extensive business history, originating in Coventry in 1867, and stays true to its family-run roots to this day. Our passion and expertise for hardwood flooring, combined with Richard Burbidge’s decades of experience with timber, makes us a market leader in hardwood flooring.
In 2019, as part of the ongoing development of the company, Atkinson & Kirby relocated its office headquarters from Chester to join the existing manufacturing and distribution facility in Chirk, North Wales. The move improved both the service and quality of products by having all staff in one location.
Today, Atkinson & Kirby remains a family-run business with Josh Burbidge as Managing Director, and Richard Burbidge as Chairman. There is still the same emphasis and commitment today to quality, customer service and the finest traditions of British craftsmanship instilled by its founders in 1903. We are committed to finding new and innovative concepts and designs, whilst providing the authentic flooring our customers are accustomed to. With so many years under our belt at Atkinson & Kirby, we have a wealth of knowledge and expertise at our finger tips, our floors can be seen in many high-profile developments across every industry.
