Described as a ‘world of renewal’ situated in the South-West of Munich, Wunderlocke is Locke Living’s latest design-led aparthotel and its second destination in Germany.
An urban oasis in the heart of the Bavarian capital, Wunderlocke creates a tranquil and inclusive space. Its natural elements combined with streamlined interiors inspired by mid-century design pay homage to both the neighbourhood’s industrial history and its community of artists and creatives.
The aparthotel combines light and airy spaces with botanicals, varying textures and pops of colour. Amongst the raw concrete industrial frame of the vast building is a restaurant, fitness studio, pool, sauna and cocktail bar, all of which put wellness and self-care at the focus of the space.
Within each apartment, blue tones from turquoise to cyan add to the calm and peacefulness that Wunderlocke offers its guests. The colours pair beautifully with the natural materials of timber, terrazzo and raffia.
To complement the unique appearance of the building, a bespoke design of Atkinson & Kirby’s Ness Smoked Oak was installed throughout each apartment.
“By creating thinner boards with a light and ash toned appearance, the flooring added to the minimalist look of the building and blended perfectly with the accompanying oak furnishings within each apartment.”
Atkinson & Kirby’s engineered hardwood flooring is also featured throughout several of the Locke Living developments, including: Eden Locke, Edinburgh; Bermonds Locke, London; Whitworth Locke, Manchester; Beckett Locke, Dublin.
