At Atkinson & Kirby we understand the need for an intelligently selected range of wood flooring styles, which is why we have invested in trend forecasting to ensure we stay ahead of the upcoming flooring trends. From this research with lead trend forecasting consultancy, Trend Bible, we discovered the growing requirement for handcrafted planks, easy to install parquet and extra wide planks.
Our research found that the flooring industry was lacking an easy to install parquet option, which is why we have introduced five innovative herringbone designs with a click fold down profile. The edges of the planks are precision profiled meaning installation time is significantly reduced, the simple fold down fitting mechanism allows for easy alignment. Our team of flooring experts have selected five inspirational shades from the natural oak tones of Siwa Oak and Brenin Oak, to the classic pale coffee tones of Grizedale Oak.
An exciting addition of ten handcrafted 18mm planks to our Contemporary range reflect the move towards more tactile and characterful timbers. The shades widely vary, with a shade to suit all homes and décor. The shades range from the delicate white washed tones of Baltra Oak to the rich honey tones of Aldwych Oak to the deep grey hues of Sandur Oak.
These additions are handcrafted and hand scraped in a lively and weathered rustic grade, with consumers enjoying the unique characteristics adding a distinctive charm to their interiors.
The selection of a wide plank was essential in adding to the handcrafted element, they work to enhance the natural grain and shades within the timber, highlighting the beauty of oak. We are seeing wide planks becoming an increasingly popular choice as they create the illusion of a larger space, making the flooring ideal for both small and large rooms. Wide plank flooring also has the unique ability to catch the eye of your guests, becoming the centrepiece and focal point of your home.
Our Contemporary collection also saw a further ten oak floors being added in a classic 15mm plank. These ten trend led designs include floors from each of our 2020 trends. Light Timia Oak is inspired by the Urban Play trend, aimed towards a minimalist low-key interior, contrasting with the dark colourway of Sheraton Smoked Oak from the Soft Retro trend which celebrates vintage fashion with a modern twist.
We are also adding an exciting new range, the Crafted collection. Over forty bespoke made to order designs will be available from Spring 2020.
